More moodboards and mindmaps

I have progressed to make a moodboard of styles I would like to follow for my honours project:

And the style of Beccy Collins, I really admire her art. I would like for my character to be as expressive and well done like hers.

Then I made some research on how the stand for my character would look like. I am really inspired by the Warhammer figures in this case. I need to be careful to not make the stand too complicated, because of the time that I have for the whole project and for the character to stand out more.

My next research was about the Snow Globes and how to DIY them. I was looking into the history of creating the snow globes and if they have any secret meaning. I found some interesting facts. I also looked at tutorials on how to make the snow globes with the jar or with the kits. Ordering the kit was a bit of a problem, as most of the kits are selling plastic sets. I can not have anything plastic, so after searching I have found glass globe, ordered glycerol and waterproof silicone glue. I will be testing it also by making one in the jar, most likely next week. At the moment I am also thinking about what should float inside. Glitter will be the best however it is not very environment friendly... unless I will also focus on the pollution problem and present the glitter as trash or even better made them from some plastic trash that I will have. I need to rethink my idea for everything to really make sense.

Last step of the research from this week was to look into games and animated movies about the environmental issues. I was quite lucky to participate in Green Games Summit event where game companies were talking about how to make the industry more eco friendly and also what kind of games about this subject are on the market. This helped me with my research. I also applied for the Playing for the Planet event, for being student ambassador and help with organising it. I am hoping that I will be picked, but I am not sure. I feel like this would also be useful for my research.

Next steps to take:
- read and make notes about the characters and storytelling books
- flip through the marine biology book: is it too technical? Have a look at Dundee other library for more about sea animals
Next week:
-start presentation
-try making the globe as soon as the stuff arrives (record a video)
-carry on reading about characters/marine life/find books on 3D printing
-start sketches of the character
-focus on 3D printing side of the project

What confirmed so far:
1) I will make a 3D character on a little stand
2) Reading I need to do: narrative through character in games, marine life, papers/reports about Sea environmental issues (acidification + pollution (?), books and articles on 3D printing (eco)
3) Must find a place for eco 3D printing
4) How everting connects with each other logically: 3D game character +sea environmental issues+ how to use technology wise- eco 3D printing + snow globe action figure as merchandise element (is this just an add on or do I need to write about this too?

Busy week in front of me, lets go!

Week 5: Moodboards and Mindmaps

I have been through the series of lectures, made notes and quickly got into moodboards. I gathered quite alot of information so next step would be to narrow it down. I also started to read a literature on how to create a well written character for games. I need to remember that I only have to touch on it so I have to already narrow down my findings, to also spend some time on other research.

Here are my notes:

Moodboards/Mindmaps:

I am quite excited to pick up from here. I will make more moodboards with research for a style I want to follow, designs of diorama stands and games or movies about environments.

Week 4: Research

This week I decided to look closely at my deadlines and plan my work around it, as I have a feeling that I am not doing enough. Through the lectures I learned about the research method and made notes as usual. This week I also started to read more and looking for useful articles on Google. I created a word document with useful links, which will help me when writing the dissertation. The tutorial was very nice this week, we got to meet more people and talk about what we are passionate about. I also started to make mindmaps and moodboards which I will post in the next post :)

and my links document, which will only expand more through the coming weeks:

Final outcomes, what a ride that was !

I finally finished the practical part of the project. I am still working on my dissertation, but meanwhile I will present what I created. I ...
