This week has been writing heavy. I have managed to finish the proposal and now I am in process of writing my literature review. It is very interesting to read articles in the subject I have chosen, but often I am lacking motivation to write. To make my life more interesting I decided to gather moodboards for my ideas:
Idea no1: Queen of the sea, I looked where I can find character like this and how is it presented. I also found an old Polish movie with under water scene in there and great clothes for the Lady of the sea. I will likely use it in my design.
Idea no.2 : cute creature, I have been looking at many Pokemon designs and what is considered cute in Disney etc. I would like to experiment here more and go beyond the big cute eyes, make it cute in some different ways if possible. Coming back to the book Visual Designs for Characters will be useful. I need to look at the proportions and shapes more.
Idea no3: Damaged creature, thinking more about it I would like for the creature to be an old man. He has been through a lot, the ocean was happier place once but not anymore. It is only getting worse and the old man is helpless. Another way to take this idea is to make a monster out of rubbish or something that evolved in a very strange way. But do I really want to make a scary design for this project? Is it correct way, audience wise?
Idea no. 4: I am starting to have doubts about this one... kind giant has been done before. He looks like a villain, but truly is the sweetest creature. I am not sure how to develop it, but I realised that I should use whale as an inspiration, due to its size.
Idea no. 5: Superhero. I do not like Marvel or DC and I would not like for my design to remain the style of it. However, when looking for superheros this is where it got me. Then I looked at some other heroes and how they are dressed. This idea could be an interesting one for sure.
Well, that was fun. Now I shall get back to the literature review.....
